University in Verona, Italy
The Università degli Studi di Verona (University of Verona) is a university in Verona, in the Veneto region of north-eastern Italy. It has about 31,000 students (2025-26 academic year) and offers 101 degree programmes in the 2026-27 academic year, from bachelor's and master's degrees to single-cycle degrees and doctoral programmes.
Programmes are grouped into eight areas:

- Sciences and Engineering
For international students, the university offers degree programmes taught entirely in English at undergraduate, graduate and doctoral level, as well as double and joint degrees with foreign partner universities. Exchange students can spend a period of study in Verona and choose from a course catalogue for incoming students. A dedicated International Students service guides degree-seeking applicants through admission and pre-enrolment, and a welcome office helps with practical matters. Italian universities generally have no campus system: students live in residences, including those of the regional agency ESU Verona, or share private flats.

Graduate programmes
The University of Verona offers master's degrees in the same eight areas as its bachelor's programmes, including International Master's degrees taught in English for students with a foreign degree (for example Biology for Translational Research and Precision Medicine, with limited places). It also runs doctoral programmes through its PhD School and postgraduate professional master's programmes.
Admission
- At least 12 years of schooling are required to apply to an Italian university
- EU citizens and non-EU citizens living in the EU apply through the university's standard enrolment procedure
- Non-EU citizens living outside the EU complete pre-enrolment on the Universitaly portal before leaving for Italy; this also starts the study visa application, and only one programme at one university can be chosen
- 2026-27 academic year: pre-enrolment for programmes without an entry test had to be submitted on Universitaly by 30 June 2026; the call for International Master's degrees (pre-admission, scholarships and reduced fees) closed on 31 March 2026

Language requirements
Non-EU applicants living abroad must pass an Italian language test; at the University of Verona this is the CISIA ITA-L2 test. Exempt are applicants with a B2 (CEFR) Italian qualification from recognised institutions such as the Università per Stranieri di Perugia or di Siena, Università Roma Tre or the Società Dante Alighieri, and applicants to English-taught master's degrees.
Scholarships and financial aid
The University of Verona awards scholarships based on merit and/or low family income, intended to cover part of students' living expenses each year. International students can also apply for scholarships funded by the Italian Ministry of Foreign Affairs and for the Invest your Talent in Italy programme; for the 2026-27 academic year the university funds support and benefits for non-EU students with a foreign degree applying to International Master's degrees. Students with a study visa or residence permit may qualify for a reduced flat-rate tuition fee depending on their country's income group, and part-time student jobs are available. The regional agency ESU Verona also provides scholarships.
Housing
Italian universities generally have no campus system. International students in Verona live in student residences, run by the regional agency ESU Verona or by RUI, or share a private flat with other students; the university's international pages list residences and private flats for international students.
