The Università di Pisa (University of Pisa, UniPi) is a university in Pisa, Italy, officially founded in 1343, when a papal bull recognised it as a Studio Generale. Its historic seat is the Palazzo della Sapienza, and its botanical garden, founded in 1543, is one of the oldest in the world. In the 1960s the CEP computer was built there and the first Italian internet connection was inaugurated. Alumni include the Nobel laureates Enrico Fermi and Carlo Rubbia.

The university has 20 departments, 17 libraries and 13 museums and collections. According to its figures, it offers:

  • 25 PhD courses
  • 49 specialty schools and 67 postgraduate (master universitario) courses

In 2023/24 there were 45,794 students in bachelor's and master's programmes. Pisa belongs to Circle U., a European university alliance with eight other universities that works on democracy, global health, climate and artificial intelligence, and it welcomes Erasmus students each year with a Welcome Week.

Graduate study at Pisa includes 73 master's degree courses (laurea magistrale), 25 PhD courses and 49 specialty schools. There are also 67 postgraduate master's courses (master universitario) for graduates, which lead to a nationally recognised advanced qualification; the course list can be filtered by level, language and subject area.
