The University of North Georgia (UNG) is a public university in the University System of Georgia (United States), designated as a State Leadership Institution and as The Military College of Georgia, with a Corps of Cadets. It has about 20,000 students on five campuses in north Georgia: Blue Ridge, Cumming, Dahlonega, Gainesville and Oconee.
UNG offers associate pathways, more than 80 bachelor's majors and 50 minors, graduate programmes and online learning. Teaching is organised in these colleges:
- College of Arts and Letters
- Mike Cottrell College of Business
- College of Education
- College of Health and Wellness
- College of Science and Mathematics
International students can enrol for a degree or a short-term exchange on all campuses except Blue Ridge. Admitted undergraduate F-1 students can apply for the International Student Scholarship, which reduces tuition by approximately $3,500 per semester. International Student and Scholar Services supports admitted students, and UNG also offers study abroad and summer language institutes.

International undergraduate applicants must be at least 16 before the first day of class, be high school graduates and prove English proficiency. Recent high school graduates (less than five years) must also meet traditional freshman criteria. Transfer applicants from US institutions need at least a 2.0 GPA.
After acceptance, students must show funds of at least about $43,000 for a bachelor's degree or $36,000 for an associate degree (estimates), and are enrolled in the University System of Georgia student health insurance. International students do not qualify for US financial aid. Dahlonega campus international students pay a one-time $200 fee that covers airport pickup and arrival support.
Teaching is in English. Minimum scores:
- Bachelor's degree: TOEFL iBT 4.0 (79 if taken before 2026), IELTS Academic 6.5, PTE Academic 58, MET 59, Cambridge English Scale 177
- Associate degree pathway: TOEFL iBT 3.5 (69 before 2026), IELTS 6, PTE 53, MET 55, Cambridge 169
- Both: SAT Reading and Writing 480 or ACT English/Reading 17, Eiken Pre-1, or completion of an approved University System of Georgia ESL programme
Applicants with a degree taught in English may receive a waiver.
Undergraduate F-1 students admitted to UNG can apply for the International Student Scholarship, which reduces tuition and gives savings of approximately $3,500 per semester. Information on how to apply is sent after admission. International students do not qualify for US federal financial aid.
