Clayton State University is a public university in Morrow, Georgia, in suburban Atlanta, on a 214-acre campus; its tuition is set by the Board of Regents of the University System of Georgia. Its stated mission is social mobility, and students come from more than 34 states and 32 countries.

Clayton State offers bachelor's degrees in a wide range of majors and minors, as well as associate degrees and certificates, plus 13 master's degrees and 8 graduate certificates. It has more than 200 full-time faculty, and programmes include film production, government and law, dental hygiene and nursing at its School of Nursing. Students have access to tutoring at the Center for Academic Success and personal academic advisors.

International students apply online for the autumn or spring term (not summer if they need an I-20), pay a $40 application fee and have their foreign transcripts evaluated by a NACES-accredited service. Non-native English speakers can show proficiency with TOEFL or IELTS scores. International Student Services issues the immigration documents after acceptance. On campus, Laker Hall and Laker Village offer 450 beds for first-time freshmen and 769 for upperclass students.

13 master's degrees and 8 graduate certificates. The combined 4+1 bachelor's/master's programmes are currently not available to international students.

Admission Requirements

International undergraduate applicants:

  • Apply online and pay a non-refundable $40 application fee (or submit a fee waiver)
  • Submit academic documents in English (or with certified translations), evaluated by an accredited service such as Josef Silny & Associates, World Education Services or another NACES member: document-by-document with GPA for secondary school, course-by-course for college studies
  • Freshmen submit SAT or ACT scores (minimum SAT 480 Reading and Writing and 440 Math, or ACT 17); under the test-optional policy until summer 2027, a core GPA of 3.0 or higher replaces test scores
  • Provide proof of English proficiency and, for F-1 visa students, a Financial Verification Form with sponsor and bank documents

International Student Services issues the I-20 after acceptance. Students needing an I-20 cannot start in summer.

Language Requirements

Accepted English scores: TOEFL iBT minimum 69 (79 recommended), or 540 on the paper-based TOEFL where the iBT is not available; IELTS 6.0 overall.

Housing

University Housing has 450 beds for first-time full-time freshmen and 769 beds for upperclass students, in residences such as Laker Hall and Laker Village, with resident assistants. The housing application for the 2026-27 academic year (autumn, spring and summer) is open.
