Primary and secondary school in Alcobendas, Spain

Liceo Europeo American School is the American high school programme of Liceo Europeo, a family-owned private school founded in 1982 at Camino Sur 10 in La Moraleja, in the north of the Madrid region. The school is accredited by NEASC to offer grades 9 to 12 of the American high school, leading to a U.S. college preparatory diploma. Teaching is fully in English, with Spanish as a second language.

The diploma programme combines core subjects with electives and a mentoring and university guidance service:

  • English Language and Literature, Mathematics, Sciences (Biology, Chemistry, Physics) and Social Sciences (History, Economics)
  • Electives such as Economics, Anthropology, Art History and Psychology
  • Spanish as a Second Language (SSL) for all levels
  • Individual mentoring and university application support

Liceo Europeo teaches pupils aged 1 to 18. Besides the American programme it offers the International Baccalaureate continuum (PYP, MYP and Diploma) and the Spanish Bachillerato, and its early years section is authorised by MSA-ESS to teach the American curriculum. Admissions are open all year and can be completed online; the school states that it supports families relocating to Madrid with guidance on transfers and recognition of studies. More than 15 bus routes serve Madrid and the surrounding area.
