Marketing Management Studies in Spain

Marketing management is the business discipline that decides what a company sells, to whom, at what price and through which channels, and how it measures the results. Students learn consumer behaviour, market research and data analysis, brand and product management, pricing and distribution, sales management, digital marketing and communication, together with the economics, accounting and management basics of any business degree.

In Spain marketing can be studied as a bachelor's degree of its own, as an official master's degree, as a business school programme, or at a more practical level through vocational training (FP).

How marketing degrees are organised

Bachelor's degrees in marketing follow the general Spanish rule of 240 ECTS credits over four years and belong to the Social and Legal Sciences branch. Their names vary. The national register of degrees (RUCT) lists, among others, the Grado en Marketing e Investigación de Mercados at public universities such as Granada, Málaga, Sevilla, Zaragoza and Cádiz, the Grado en Marketing at ESIC Universidad, Universidad Europea de Madrid and Universidad Rey Juan Carlos, and newer degrees such as Marketing, Innovación y Tecnología at the Universitat Politècnica de Catalunya. A search for "marketing" in RUCT returns 67 bachelor's records and 96 master's records, including renewed programmes.

At the Universidad de Sevilla, for example, the Grado en Marketing e Investigación de Mercados has 240 credits over four years, is taught in Spanish and English, and offered 120 first-year places for 2025-26, when 298 applicants chose it as their first preference.

After the bachelor's, students can take an official master's degree (máster universitario) of 60 to 120 credits, such as the Máster Universitario en Dirección de Marketing offered by several universities, or programmes in digital marketing, international marketing and commercial management. Business schools also teach many master's programmes that are their own qualifications (títulos propios); these are not official degrees.

Vocational training is the practical route: the Commerce and Marketing family includes the higher qualifications Técnico Superior en Marketing y Publicidad, Técnico Superior en Gestión de Ventas y Espacios Comerciales and Técnico Superior en Comercio Internacional.

Where to study marketing in Spain

In our directory, Madrid and Barcelona have most of the schools for this subject, followed by Málaga, with further schools in Murcia, Granada, Zaragoza, Badajoz and Ciudad Real, among others. The offer mixes public universities, private universities and business schools. Some examples:

  • ESIC, Pozuelo de Alarcón (Madrid): ESIC Universidad offers a Grado en Marketing and a Máster Universitario en Dirección de Marketing, both listed in RUCT, with some programmes in English
  • Facultad de Economía y Empresa, Universidad de Zaragoza: Grado en Marketing e Investigación de Mercados
  • Universidad Autónoma de Madrid and Universidad de Extremadura: business and economics faculties; the Universidad de Extremadura offers a Máster Universitario en Dirección de Marketing
  • EAE Business School, Barcelona and Madrid: a Grado en Marketing y Comunicación Digital taught in Spanish, alongside MBA and master's programmes; the school states that it has trained more than 77,000 managers and professionals since 1958
  • Enae Business School, Murcia: a postgraduate school belonging to a foundation linked to the Universidad de Murcia
  • Other business schools in the list include ESADE in Barcelona, ESERP and IMF in Madrid, and ESESA in Málaga

Most degrees are taught in Spanish. Some are registered with an English name as well, such as the Bachelor in Marketing at ESIC Universidad, Universidad Europea de Madrid and Universidad Rey Juan Carlos, and some business school programmes are taught in English.

Admission and recognition

Students with a secondary school qualification from outside Spain usually apply first for UNEDasiss accreditation and then apply to each university within its own deadlines. At the Universidad de Sevilla, the price per credit for this degree is €12.62, with a 99% bonus from the second year on credits passed the year before; private universities and business schools set their own fees.

Non-EU students staying more than 90 days need a study visa; the Spanish consulate in London, for example, asks for proof of financial means of at least 100% of the IPREM. A foreign degree can be recognised through a declaration of equivalence, which certifies its academic level (bachelor's or master's).

Careers

Marketing graduates work as marketing and brand managers, market research analysts, digital marketing and e-commerce specialists, sales and key account managers, product managers, and in communication agencies and consultancies.
