School for International Training

School for International Training (SIT) is a private nonprofit institution of higher education based in Brattleboro, Vermont, and part of the nonprofit World Learning Inc. family. It was founded in 1964, growing out of the orientation and training that The Experiment provided for the first Peace Corps volunteers. SIT is accredited by the New England Commission of Higher Education (NECHE). Its global campus includes nearly 30 learning centres in 29 countries.

SIT teaches through two divisions:

• SIT Study Abroad: more than 80 accredited, field-based undergraduate semester and summer programmes in more than 40 countries in Africa, Asia and the Pacific, Europe, Latin America and the Middle East, plus comparative programmes in several locations
• SIT Graduate Institute: global master's degrees taught mainly at SIT's education centres abroad, in fields such as humanitarian assistance, sustainable development and international education
• Doctoral programmes, offered online: Global Education, and since 2024 PhDs in international relations and sustainability

All programmes follow an experiential learning model that combines theory with fieldwork. More than two dozen study abroad programmes include optional internships, and summer internship programmes are also offered.
