The Universidade de Coimbra (University of Coimbra, UC) is a university in Coimbra, in central Portugal, devoted to research, teaching and services to the community. Part of its heritage is listed by UNESCO. It has four campuses, including one in Figueira da Foz, and twelve organic units. According to the university, it has 31,256 students and 1,935 teaching staff, and 5,744 students of foreign nationality from 111 countries, and it hosts 1,993 incoming mobility students.

The UC offers 46 bachelor's degrees (licenciaturas), 132 master's degrees, 10 integrated master's degrees and 76 doctoral programmes, plus 170 non-degree courses. Teaching takes place in faculties and schools including:

  • Faculties of Letters, Law and Medicine
  • Faculty of Sciences and Technology
  • Faculties of Pharmacy and Economics
  • Faculty of Psychology and Educational Sciences
  • Faculty of Sport Sciences and Physical Education
  • Nursing School and College of Arts

International applicants can choose degree programmes, a preparatory year (Ano Zero), lifelong learning and Portuguese language courses, and can apply for merit scholarships. The university has 13 residences and its social services provide support with housing and meals. Exchange students come through Erasmus and other mobility partnerships.
