The University of Cantabria (UC), is a Spanish public university, the only institution that awards official degrees within the self-governed community of Cantabria. It is based in Santander and Torrelavega in Cantabria, Spain. Its foundation goes back to the year 1972, but in 2009 it was selected as Campus of International Excellence by the Government of Spain.

The institution is organized into 14 schools and faculties: Sciences, Humanities, Medicine (associated with the Marqués de Valdecilla University Hospital); Altamira School of Tourism; Gimbernat-Cantabria School of Physiotherapy; Faculty of Economics and Business Studies; Faculty of Law; School of Teacher Training; School of Civil Engineering;; School of Industrial Engineering and Telecommunications; School of Nautical Studies; School of Nursing "Casa de Salud Valdecilla" ; School of Technical Mining Engineering; and Teaching Unit of Environmental Engineering. Finally, the school has signed a great number of agreements with European, Latin American, US, and Australian universities, sending and receiving more that 600 exchange students each year.
