The Universidad de La Laguna (ULL) is a public university in San Cristóbal de La Laguna, on Tenerife, and the oldest higher education institution in the Canary Islands. University activity in La Laguna dates back to 1701, and the decree founding the university was signed by King Charles IV on 11 March 1792. Today the university community has more than 25,000 people, including students, teaching staff and administrative staff.

Teaching takes place on several campuses, including the Central campus and the Guajara campus, and the university is developing online teaching through its Virtual Teaching Unit. Students can apply for scholarships from the Spanish Ministry of Education and the Government of the Canary Islands as well as the ULL's own grants. The university's Accommodation Service runs halls of residence (colegios mayores) and a student residence, which aim to help students with greater financial difficulties to access and continue their studies.

Graduate programmes
The ULL offers 36 official university master's degrees, 1 double master's degree and 22 doctoral programmes, as well as university-specific postgraduate qualifications (títulos propios). Master's and doctoral studies are managed by the Escuela de Doctorado y Estudios de Posgrado; the 2026-27 master's offer, admission criteria, language-level accreditation and access rules for holders of foreign degrees are published on the master's page ([email protected]).
