The Universidad Pontificia de Salamanca (UPSA) is the university of the Spanish Episcopal Conference. It was established in 1940 to restore the faculties of Theology and Canon Law, which had been excluded from Spanish universities in 1852, and it traces its roots to the 13th century. According to the university, it offers more than 100 qualifications and 93,000 students have studied there.

UPSA offers bachelor's degrees (grados), double degrees, ecclesiastical bachelor's and licentiate degrees, official master's degrees, lifelong-learning master's and specialist diplomas, and doctorates. Bachelor's degrees include:

  • Psychology and Speech Therapy
  • Nursing and Physiotherapy (also in Madrid)
  • Journalism and Audiovisual Communication
  • Computer Engineering
  • Law, History and International Relations (online)

Health students train in an Advanced Clinical Simulation Centre with a simulated hospital. The International Office helps students with Erasmus and other mobility procedures. Students can live in the Colegio Mayor Hispanoamericano Nuestra Señora de Guadalupe, founded in 1951. The university's study grants apply to programmes on the Salamanca campus, and Banco Santander funds grants for students on work placements.
