The Università degli Studi di Trieste (University of Trieste, UniTS) is a public university in Trieste, in north-eastern Italy. It describes itself as a secular, pluralist public institution of higher education. Its origins lie in the Advanced School of Commerce founded in 1877; it became the University of Economic and Commercial Studies in 1924 and a full university in 1938, when the Faculty of Law opened. Faculties of engineering, humanities, sciences, pharmacy, medicine, political science, modern languages for interpreters and translators, psychology and architecture followed. The university also opened facilities in Gorizia (1989), Pordenone (1991) and Portogruaro (1997). Since 2012 teaching and research have been organised in ten departments.

International students, visa applicants and applicants with qualifications obtained abroad follow a specific procedure before enrolling, and foreign qualifications can be recognised. The university takes part in Erasmus+ and has a Welcome page for international students with information in several languages, including Spanish. The University Language Centre (CLA) offers language support.

Each programme has specific entry requirements, published on its own website for 2026/2027. International students, visa applicants and those with foreign qualifications must follow a specific procedure before enrolling.
