The Open Faculty

Higher education centre, Graduate school in Murcia, Spain

The Open Faculty is a private university centre in Murcia, previously known as the Escuela Universitaria de Turismo de Murcia (EUTM); it took its current name in 2019. It traces its history back to 1965 and has worked in partnership with the Universidad de Murcia for more than twenty years, serving as the seat of that university's Faculty of Tourism. All lecturers hold the venia docendi granted by the rector of the Universidad de Murcia, and the teaching team is made up of professionals active in tourism and international relations. In 2019 the centre renewed its facilities in a green space in the centre of Murcia.

The bachelor's degrees are open to applicants with the Bachillerato and the PAU, a higher vocational qualification (grado superior), the entrance exams for applicants over 25, 40 or 45, a foreign school qualification or a previous university degree. Pre-registration follows the official Universidad de Murcia deadlines. The Becas Talento Turismo Región de Murcia scholarships support access to the degree in Tourism. The centre also runs weekly Open Talks seminars and Open Days for prospective students and their families.

Lecturers hold the venia docendi of the Universidad de Murcia.

Graduate programmes

Official master's degree in Hotel Management, specialising in international tourist accommodation and taught by professionals from the hotel industry. Applicants need an official Spanish university degree or one from a country in the European Higher Education Area; other degrees are checked for equivalence. Applications follow the official Universidad de Murcia deadlines.

Admission

Access routes to the official bachelor's degrees:

  • Bachillerato with the PAU passed
  • Higher vocational training (ciclo formativo de grado superior)
  • Entrance exams for applicants over 25, 40 or 45
  • Foreign education systems
  • Holders of a university degree

Applicants pre-register for a place within the official Universidad de Murcia pre-registration period and then complete enrolment at the centre.

Scholarships and financial aid

The centre offers scholarships and grants for its official bachelor's degrees, including general scholarships and the Becas Talento Turismo Región de Murcia, which support access to the degree in Tourism.
