Green Mountain College was founded in 1834 by the Troy conference of the United Methodist Church with an objective of teaching students effectively and making them successful, intelligent, responsible and spiritual individuals. The college offers over 40 majors and minors, masters programs and Special Programs (e.g. Honors program) most of which are basically centered on liberal arts. With over 700 students living and learning on campus, the school claims to be a very good choice for undergraduate and postgraduate study. There are various advanced facilities and learning equipment such as athletic fields, a farm with a garden and livestock, all situated on the 155-acre school campus. Green Mountain College is approved by the Commission on Institutions of Higher Education of the New England Association of Schools and Colleges Inc.
