The University of Miami

This a private non-sectarian university located in Coral Gables, Florida. The university has 12 different schools/colleges. Some of these include a law school on the main campus, the Leonard M. Miller School of Medicine situated in the Health District of Miami, and the Rosenstiel School of Marine and Atmospheric Science which focuses on the study of atmospheric sciences and oceanography; this school is located on Virginia Key and has research facilities at the Richmond Facility located in southern Miami-Dade County.

116 undergraduate, 105 graduate, and 63 doctoral degree programs are offered at the university. Of the 63 doctorate programs, 59 of them are scholarship/research and four specialized areas of study. The university has a huge library system with more than 3.1 million volumes of books and incomparable holdings in Cuban music and heritage. It also has a lot of activities students can engage in, for instance, sororities and fraternities, a radio station and a student paper.

Florida International University in Miami

This is the only public research university in Miami. It offers bachelors, masters, and doctorate degree programs to its students.
