Universidad Autónoma de Chile is a private, non-profit university founded in Temuco, in the Araucanía region, on 31 July 1989 under the name Universidad Autónoma del Sur. It later expanded to the Maule and Santiago Metropolitan regions and took its current name. Today it has four campuses, in Santiago (Providencia and El Llano Subercaseaux), Talca and Temuco, and more than 32,000 students.
