Doctors known as hematopathologists are doctors who have specialization in blood diseases, as well as in the tissues and organs supported by the blood cells. They are also known as experts of blood diseases of multiple symptoms.

Oncology and hematology overlap in the treatment of cancer. Doctors of these two fields are responsible in prescribing and performing bone marrow transplants, pheresis, chemotherapy and stem cell transplants. Such therapies are used in order to treat multiple myeloma, Hodgkin’s disease, lymphoma, non-Hodgkin’s lymphoma and other immunity diseases. Hematologists usually work in blood banks, laboratories, hospitals, medical offices and centers for cancer treatment.

The work routine of hematologists involves the primary care and patient treatment of those people with various kinds of hematological diseases; some hematologists may also be working in laboratories viewing bone marrow and blood films using microscopes, some also manages the entire hematology laboratory. Physicians of Hematology also works with hemopathologists and together they deliver the most appropriate and effective therapy. The field of Hematology is known for its distinct sub focus, which is the focus on internal medicine. Other activities of hematologists may include the treatment of blood disorders like and idiopathic thrombocytopenic purpura and hemophilia, they can also cover the treatment of hematological malignacies namely leukemia and lymphoma, they can also specialize on hemoglobinopathis treatment, they can also focus on working with the blood bank and in blood transfusion and in stem cell transplantation.

Hemotherapy is associated with Hematology being one of the treatments to cure blood diseases. It is delivered to the body by means of blood or other derivatives of it which is transferred through the process of transfusion. Transfusion can take place in many ways such as blood total transfusion, plasma application; blood partial transfusion and hemetia concentrate application.

The process of Hemotherapy involves the transferring of the blood products or the blood itself into the patient’s circulatory system to another patient’s circulatory system. For most situations, the process is life saving, especially in cases like blood loss or blood lost after surgery. Hemotherapy can also treat anemia, sickle cell disease or what is commonly known as hemophilia, which may call for several sessions of treatment.

The treatment also comes in with some side effects for the patient upon reception. The patient may experience hives, fever, pain, shortness of breath, rapid heart rate as well as low pressure of the blood. The overall reaction is quite frightening, but it is indeed not life threatening.
