When a child begins to talk, he begins to think, to reason, to explain, and express. Soon he begins to walk and lead. When he leads he would soon be a leader, just as what Warren Bennis, U.S. educationalist and writer said: “Leaders learn by leading, and they learn best by leading in the face of obstacles. As weather shapes mountains, problems shape leaders.” Well said.
We talk of leadership and we mean one’s ability to lead, guide, or influence people no matter what kind of circumstance or situation it would be. Leadership is not acquired overnight or handed over in a silver platter (not when you were in a monarchy or aristocratic state). It is learned, and earned hard with a Certificate. Certificate gives what a student wants to achieve: develop the critical skills necessary for the success of most complex projects.
The course requires the students hurdle over the difficult series of integrated collaborative group projects, practical case studies, interactive assessments, application of concepts through frameworks and toolsets. The course focuses on leadership skills while solving every important part of the project implementation.
Students were taught to:
1. Conduct productive meetings and methods of its utilization;
2. Effective communication, written and oral;
3. Technology utilization;
4. Strengthening and motivating team members; and
5. Personal fitness and health.
Students learn to develop, communicate, deliver project vision, facilitates the ability to gain ownership with skill and framework. Integration of methodology – practical, dynamic and interactive; delivering of practical success strategies and skills relevant to the management of project; interactive opportunities to experience project-specific scenarios; and feedback gathering were dynamically imparted. They learn to understand methods, procedures, and tools explained in the theory.
Students learn the skills in leadership; acquire behavioral training for project managers which is essential in their experience after the course and study training. They are tutored to lobby, make requests, assist and inspire, negotiate, and endorse and persuade the completion of project. They are taught to develop their natural ability to advocate and push on projects. When these inherent intellects have been developed and clearly seen in use, they become efficient project leaders that could win and handle bigger project responsibilities.
There are many things students learn in the training course. They are able to manage the natural doubts and uncertainties in projects. They can accomplish projects emplaced in organizations that grow and develop in a conditional set up. Their aims are directed to building an organized project team; monitor and control its performance. Their understandings to problems are enhanced so that prevention to the breaking up and undercutting are avoided.
There are instances that conflicts occur during the project operation which need deliberate mitigation and resolution. Personal and political influences were discouraged and inhibited in favor of the project’s success.
Course subjects concern on problems of climate change; leadership and leadership training; utilization of creative thinking tools and cross-cultural learning; skills on networking; skills in communication; skills in project management; and development of project proposal.
The track is laid on for the graduating student to become masters in leadership projects. Their skills and education usher them to become trainers and builders of leaders to students like them and of what they have previously undergone.
