Mekelle University (MU) is a state university in Mekelle, in the Tigray region of northern Ethiopia, 783 km from the Ethiopian capital. It was established by the Government of Ethiopia in May 2000 as an autonomous higher education institution, through the merger of Mekelle Business College and Mekelle University College.
