Suffolk University’s American Studies minor encourages students to examine U.S. culture, both past and present. This program draws on insights and techniques from the history, literature, arts and the social sciences. Faculty from each discipline will support students as they explore historical and contemporary U.S. cultures, societies and identities.
Students take a preparatory course, Defining America and Americans, after they complete this, they then choose a focus area. Eras, themes, regions, problems in American culture and populations are all focus areas students can choose from. Each student will have a minor advisor who will help them choose a focus area that suits their unique interests.
