Fashion Education in Switzerland

When most people think of fashion their thoughts no doubt turn to the glitz and glamour of runway models and photo shoots, but the world of fashion is also a very competitive area of business, in which well-educated and well-trained fashion graduates are consistently in high demand.  Training graduates to compete and excel in the fashion business is the job of universities such as the Zurich Fashion School and its specialization program in Fashion Management.

At the Zurich Fashion School, the graduate program in Fashion Management aims to impart to students all of the knowledge and skills required to succeed in the fashion industry.  The program consists of 60 European credits, 54 of which are earned through the 27 courses students will take throughout the life of the program.  The final six credits are earned by completing and defending a final comprehensive thesis.

Applicants are required to have obtained a Bachelor degree in a relevant field and be proficient in English.  Courses are divided into core courses, which every student must take, and elective courses, through which students can focus on a specific aspect of fashion studies and/or fashion management.

Why Study Abroad in Switzerland

In addition to the top-notch education you’ll receive while attending one of Switzerland’s many established universities, there are plenty of other benefits to choosing the country for your study abroad adventure.

Language

Switzerland is the perfect destination for those students who want to study and learn a new language while visiting the country.  That is because three of Europe’s major languages are considered official in Switzerland:  French, German and Italian.  Depending on the area in which you elect to study, you’ll have ample time to learn and practice one or more of these languages as you immerse yourself among the Swiss people.

Culture

The culture of Switzerland is also quite appealing.  It is characterized by a wide range of diversity; a diversity which is reflected in the vast range of customs and traditions in various regions of the country.  Almost all of the Swiss regions remain strongly connected to the culture and customs of their closest neighboring country, with which they share a language.  Thus, the German-speaking regions in the north of Switzerland are strongly connected to and culturally influenced by Germany, just as Italian-speaking regions in the south are connected to Italy.

Natural Beauty

Switzerland is renowned for the splendor and beauty of its natural landscapes, and Alpine symbolism has long played an essential role in shaping its history and identity.  During the winter, the country is a haven for skiers around the world, while activities such as hiking, mountain biking and camping are popular pursuits during the summer.

City Amenities

Switzerland is home to many famous contributors to the worlds of art, literature, music and the sciences, and its cities house roughly 1,000 museums (art, history, science, etc.) to showcase and display these gifts, a number that has nearly tripled since the middle of the 20th century.  You will also find there are hundreds of galleries, libraries, restaurants, and cafes to be enjoyed, as well as scores of trendy bars and bustling nightclubs, where students can relax and unwind after a long day of studying, and party and dance the night away with their newfound friends.
