Interesting locations in China


The geographical feature of China makes it one of the most visited regions in East Asia.  With almost 40 locations declared by UNESCO as a World Heritage as well as China’s majestic, historical cultures, your experience will be amazing and one of its kind.  Below are favorite cities visited by many foreign and local travelers:

  • Beijing – capital of China and host of the 2008 Olympics, places to visit are the Forbidden City, Tianamen Square, Summer Palace and Temple of Heaven
  • Xi’an – city in the province of Shaanxi, famous for Army of Terracota Warriors and Horses
  • Shanghai – a very developed city and famous for its shopping centers.  The Yuyuan Gardens, skyscrapers of Pudong and the Nanjing West Road are great views of the city.
  • Guangzhou – known for its foreign trades and businesses.  It also holds the “Canton Fair”, largest trade fair in China.
  • Hangzhou – boasts of its breathtaking and natural landscapes such as the West Lake, Longjing Tea Fields and Gou’s villa.
  • Nanjing – recognized as a historical and cultural city.  Site to see are the Purple Mountain, Presidential Palace, Nanjing Museum, and Monument to the 1937 Nanking Massacre.
  • Kunming – regarded as the “City of Eternal Spring”, places to visit include the Provincial Museum, Village of Ethnic Culture, Stone Forest, Jiuxiang Scenic Spot, and Qiongzhu Temple.

Other well-known tourist destinations:

  • Great Wall of China - built to prevent attacks by the Xiongnu raiders during the Qin Dynasty.  It consists of 4 great walls constructed in different dynastic periods that started in 214 BC and ended in 1644 AD. 
  • Mount Tai – a consecrated mountain and declared as a UNESCO World Heritage Site.  It is also famous because of people who have actually climbed the mountain such as Mao Zedong, Confucius and the first Chinese emperor Qin Shi Huangdi.
  • Yarlong River National Park – located in the autonomous region of Tibet, it has the largest canyon in the world, the Yalung Zangbo Canyon.
