Study, Work, Volunteer and Travel in Greece

Greece or the Hellenic Republic has many firsts to its credit. In fact, much of what defines Western culture was first written, built or stated by the Greeks thousands of years ago. Philosophy, literature, poetry, theater, Mediterranean cuisine, mythology, and a fascinating pantheon of Gods are all part of this fascinating country’s unique traditions and its many claims to fame.

Greece lies at the crossroads of three continents—Europe, Asia, and Africa. The ‘birthplace of democracy’ is a developed country, a member of the European Union since 1981, a member of the Economic and Monetary Union of the European Union since 2001, NATO since 1951, the OECD since 1960, the WEU since 1995, and the ESA since 2005.

Athens, one of the first cities in the world, is the capital of Greece. The birthplace of Socrates, Pericles, Sophocles and other prominent philosophers, politicians and writers of the ancient world, Athens remains a vibrant cultural center even today. It is also the site of the Greek Parliament, the Athens Trilogy (Library, University, Academy) and the new Athens Olympic Sports Complex.
