Places included on the tentative World Heritage list are Jaragua National Park (founded on August 11, 1983 and settled in the southwestern portion of the Barahona Peninsula), Parque Nacional del Este (chosen as protected area as of September 16, 1975 with total area of 41,894 ha), Ancient Big House of Palavé, Sugar Mill of Engombe, Boca De Nigua Sugar Mill (created before 1870), Historical Centre of Puerto Plata (here you can find the Carmen's church 1927, Colonial Fort San Felipe of the 16th century, house Embroiders CastelIanos, house Rothschil-Pimentel 1906, and Plazoleta of the Bridge of the Guinea of the 19th century), City of Azúa de Compostela, Sanate Sugar Mill and Nuestra Señora de Monte Alegre or la Duquesa Sugar Mill.

Casinos in the country may add pleasure to your trip. There are numerous casino resorts scattered on the countryside. All casinos in the country operate 24 hours every day and they use similar odds that you encountered in Las Vegas, Nevada, USA. Some table games in the casinos are blackjack, poker, roulette and slot machines.
