The country’s beaches provide varied activities for those who want to have fun on its attractive shores. Some popular beaches in the country include La Minitas (offers rental establishments for several water sports such as kayaks, paddleboats and wind surf boards) and Bayahibe (a native land to Casa de Camp which is considered one of the best golf resorts in the world).

The Colonial City of Santo Domingo is included on the World Heritage list. This colonial town was established in 1498 and the place became the cathedral, customs house, hospital and university in the Americas. Places included on the tentative World Heritage list are Jaragua National Park (founded on August 11, 1983 and settled in the southwestern portion of the Barahona Peninsula), Parque Nacional del Este (chosen as protected area as of September 16, 1975 with total area of 41,894 ha), Ancient Big House of Palavé, Sugar Mill of Engombe, Boca De Nigua Sugar Mill (created before 1870), Historical Centre of Puerto Plata (here you can find the Carmen's church 1927, Colonial Fort San Felipe of the 16th century, house Embroiders CastelIanos, house Rothschil-Pimentel 1906, and Plazoleta of the Bridge of the Guinea of the 19th century), City of Azúa de Compostela, Sanate Sugar Mill and Nuestra Señora de Monte Alegre or la Duquesa Sugar Mill.
