Today's reality is one of a young and dynamic university which, on its two campuses (Vegazana and El Bierzo), does not shrink in any way from its obligation to the development and service of the nearby community or its vocation for universality, for since its creation it has actively supported internationalization and the crossing of frontiers, while becoming a hallmark of quality able to attract students and teachers not only from other parts of the Iberian Peninsula but also from much further afield. Numbers are the best proof of all this, as in recent years, students have been coming regularly from over 40 different countries. Likewise, students of the University of León, through a number of mobility programmes (ERASMUS, AMICUS, Sicue, etc.) are able to study one or two academic years at any of over 300 universities associated with ULE, and have their studies recognized. As a result of the society to which it owes its existence, the University of León has a range of qualification among which, without forgetting Arts, Law or Economics, there is a predominance of the so-called Earth Sciences: Veterinary, Medicine, Biology, Agronomy, etc. Today, 37 first degrees and 18 postgraduate qualifications are offered on the two sites, ranging from those with a long tradition to the completely novel, including joint qualifications awarded together with universities in other countries, and newly created postgraduate qualifications that respond to the emerging needs and demands of the labour market.
