In Ghana, post secondary education commonly consists of four years of majoring in a specific field of interest. Students are admitted based on their performance on the W.A.S.S.C.E, exam, although students who obtain a ‘C’ or less in their elective courses usually find it hard to get admitted to the public universities, largely because there is so much competition.
All graduate-level programs are offered by the country’s universities (and not the colleges or polytechnics), both public and private. The universities in Ghana offer most of the internationally accepted degrees, which include Master of Arts (MA), Master of Science (MS) and Master of Business Administration (MBA). Kokrobite is a quick 20 mile (30km) ride from the capital city of Accra. In addition to its glorious beaches, the city is also home to the Academy of African Music and Art (AAMA), founded by master drummer Mustapha Tettey Addy. The Academy attracts drummers and dancers from all over the world.

Ghana’s second-largest city (after Accra), Kumasi is the former capital of Ghana's Ashanti Kingdom and is located in the southern-central portion of the country. Throughout history, the Ashanti have been renowned artisans, and the gold jewelry and trinkets they craft are famous throughout the world, as is their Kente cloth and wood-carved stools. You can see examples of this fascinating art at the National Culture Center, as well as in the various craft villages situated on the outskirts of Kumasi. The bustling Kejetia Market is definitely worth a visit, and if you're interested to see how the Ashanti Kings used to live, you’ll definitely want to check out the Manhyia Palace Museum. If you’re lucky, it is there that you might even meet the current Ashanti king, who makes an appearance to greet the public every 42 days.
