The Cégep Édouard-Montpetit is a public college (cégep) on Montreal's South Shore, in Quebec, Canada. Teaching is in French. Cégeps are the first level of higher education in Quebec: two-year pre-university programmes prepare students for university and three-year technical programmes lead to employment, both ending in the diploma of college studies (DEC), a state diploma issued by the Quebec ministry of higher education. The cégep offers 22 regular programmes, including integrated DEC-BAC pathways with university, and is linked to the École nationale d'aérotechnique (ÉNA); it also runs five clinics open to the public.
- Pre-university: arts, letters and communication, visual arts, natural sciences, social sciences
- Health: nursing, dental hygiene, denturism, dental prosthetics, radiography, optics
- Aeronautics, electrical engineering and computer science
- Administration, early childhood and special education
Only three technical programmes are open to international students: electrical engineering (networks and telecommunications), optics (Optique et lunetterie) and early childhood education. Applications go through the regional admission service (SRAM) once a year, for the fall term, and applicants whose secondary schooling was not in French need a French test at level B2. Support services include tutoring, help centres and intercultural guidance.

22 regular programmes leading to the DEC, taught in French:
- Pre-university (5): Arts, lettres et communication (cinema, languages, literature, media and journalism, theatre), Arts visuels, Sciences de la nature, Sciences humaines, double DEC
- Technical (15): administration and management, aeronautics, denturism, early childhood education, special education, electrical engineering, dental hygiene, computer science, multimedia integration, optics, dental prosthetics, radiography, nursing
- Integrated DEC-BAC (5): administration, computer science, marketing, accounting, early childhood education
International students can enrol only in electrical engineering (networks and telecommunications), optics and early childhood education. Tremplin DEC helps students complete missing prerequisites.
International students can apply to three technical programmes. They need at least eleven years of schooling in their home country (equivalent to a Quebec secondary diploma) and must meet any programme-specific conditions. Applications are made online to the regional admission service (SRAM), which lists the documents and fees; admission takes place once a year, for the fall term. Applicants should apply well ahead of the deadline, since immigration papers take 4 to 6 months: after admission, students obtain a Quebec Acceptance Certificate (CAQ), which requires proof of funds (CAD 24,617 per year for one person in 2026), and then a study permit.
Applicants who did not complete secondary school in French must pass a French test from their home country at minimum level B2. Accepted tests (via SRAM):
- Test Bright (comprehension)
- TCF tout public (not TCF Québec or TCF Canada)
- DELF tout public B2 or DALF
- TEF (not TEF Express, TEF Québec or TEF Canada)
Failing the test means the application is refused.
Pre-university programmes last 2 years and technical programmes 3 years (6 terms); failing a course can extend the programme, since failed courses must be retaken. The school year runs from mid-August to late May, with a fall term (mid-August to late December) and a winter term (January to late May).
