Collège Mathieu is a French-language college in Saskatchewan, Canada, offering technical and vocational training. Its head office is in Gravelbourg, and it also has campuses in Saskatoon and Regina. According to the college, it has been the only French-language technical and vocational college in Saskatchewan since 1918.

The college programmes open to international students are taught in French and cover:

  • Business administration techniques
  • Early childhood education
  • Welding (certificate and DEP vocational diploma)
  • Health: rehabilitation assistant, health care aide, practical nursing
  • Tourism and media

Some college diplomas can also be completed online. In addition, Collège Mathieu runs language courses (French for adults, teens and children, and Spanish) and is an approved centre for the TCF French test and for DELF/DALF certification. Students have access to a residence and to support services for Canadian and international students. Admission requires a completed or nearly completed secondary school diploma, and the college advertises scholarships of up to CA$10,000 for future bilingual practical nurses.

Admission Requirements

International admission in five steps; the college advises starting early, as the process can take several months.

  • General requirements: interview with the programme coordinator, completed or nearly completed secondary school diploma, and a motivation letter
  • Programme-specific requirements; depending on the programme, a French exam or a case study
  • Application form with supporting documents and an admission fee of CA$250 or CA$500 depending on the programme
  • After the admission letter, at least 50% of tuition is paid; the college then issues the acceptance letter needed for the Canadian study permit

Financial Aid

Collège Mathieu advertises scholarships of up to CA$10,000 for future bilingual practical nurses. Through its foundation it also offers a Bourse d'excellence, a scholarship for career changers (réorientation de carrière), a Bourse de persévérance and a scholarship for graduates of Fransaskois or French immersion secondary schools.
