Lambton College is a college in Sarnia, Ontario (Canada), a city of about 75,000 people on the shores of Lake Huron, and it also has a location in Ottawa. It has about 5,000 students and has welcomed students from Canada and abroad for more than 50 years. It began with a focus on technology and skilled trades and now also teaches health sciences, business and community services.

Lambton offers:

  • One-year undergraduate and graduate certificates
  • Ontario College Diplomas, Advanced Diplomas and degrees, in two to four years
  • Apprenticeships in the skilled trades
  • Continuing education

Students can gain Canadian work experience through co-op placements or the college's Research & Innovation team. Lambton is a designated learning institution with programmes aligned with the post-graduation work permit (PGWP). All teaching is in English; international applicants need, for example, IELTS Academic 6.0 for diplomas. They can apply directly online or through an authorised agent, and applications are reviewed within 2-5 business days. For 2026-2027, entrance scholarships of up to $4,000 are offered for selected Sarnia programmes. A new residence is due to open in Fall 2027.

Fields include technology and skilled trades, health sciences, business and community services. Examples of programmes open to international students: Agribusiness Management, Artificial Intelligence & Machine Learning, Business Analytics, Computer Programmer, Environmental Technician - Water Treatment Operations, Millwright Mechanical Technician, Occupational Health & Safety Management and Supply Chain Management. Co-op placements are available.

Admission Requirements

International applicants apply directly through Lambton's online application or through one of its authorised education agents; using an agent is optional, agents cannot guarantee admission and all fees are paid directly to the college. Applications are reviewed within 2-5 business days, and the college emails the Letter of Acceptance. Admission decisions consider English scores, academic history, experience and programme demand.

Language Requirements

All classes, labs and workplace learning are in English. Minimum scores from in-person tests:

  • IELTS Academic: 6.0 with no band below 6.0 (diplomas and certificates); 6.5 with no band below 6.0 (graduate certificates)
  • TOEFL iBT: 78 (diplomas) or 88 (graduate certificates), no section below 18
  • PTE Academic: 60, no band below 60
  • Duolingo: 105 (diplomas) or 115 (graduate certificates)
  • CAEL, CELPIP, ELLT or the Lambton Institute of English (70)

Applicants from some English-speaking countries may be exempt. English pathway options are offered with partners such as ILSC and Oxford International Digital Institute.

Financial Aid

For the 2026-2027 academic year, Lambton offers international entrance scholarships for selected programmes, for example $4,000 for Agribusiness Management, Business Analytics, Occupational Health & Safety Management or Supply Chain Management, and $1,000-$3,800 for others. Applicants qualify by applying to an eligible Sarnia or Ottawa programme for the Fall 2026, Winter 2027 or Spring 2027 intake and meeting the English test scores; selection is shown on the acceptance letter. Scholarships are capped at $4,000 (Sarnia) and $3,600 (Ottawa) and are applied to first-year tuition. An academic scholarship of $2,000 is available in Software Engineering Technician – Artificial Intelligence for a GPA of at least 2.8.

Housing

Lambton's new residence opens in Fall 2027, with 50 apartment-style suites (167 beds, private bedrooms and shared living areas) and 67 semi-private suites (134 beds). It will have community lounges, floor kitchens on every level, study spaces, a micro market and laundry, and residents can buy an optional meal plan. Fees, application dates and room selection details will be published closer to the opening.
