North Island College (NIC) is a community college and designated learning institution (DLI) in British Columbia, Canada. It has four campuses on Vancouver Island, on Canada's Pacific Northwest coast: Campbell River, Comox Valley, Port Alberni and Mixalakwila (Port Hardy). It serves North Vancouver Island, the Central Coast and beyond, with an 18:1 student-to-faculty ratio.

NIC offers trades training, health and community service programmes, business studies and university-level courses that can be transferred to universities across BC and beyond. Programmes open to international students include:

  • Associate degrees in arts and in science, and university transfer pathways
  • Bachelor of Business Administration (Accounting, Management) and business diplomas
  • Health science, criminology and engineering foundation programmes
  • Early childhood care and education, social services and health care
  • Electrical and instrumentation technician programmes

Several programmes are eligible for the Canadian Post-Graduation Work Permit (PGWP), and co-op work experience is available. Teaching is in English; international applicants need, for example, Academic IELTS 6.0 for open-entry programmes, or can follow a language pathway. Applications for 2027/28 are open. On the Comox Valley campus, the tul'al'txw student housing complex has 217 beds, including family units, and NIC awards more than $1 million in financial awards.
