Simon Fraser University (SFU) is a university in British Columbia, Canada, with campuses in Burnaby, Surrey and Vancouver, the province's three largest cities. SFU states that it is ranked first among Canadian comprehensive universities in the Maclean's University Rankings 2026.
SFU offers undergraduate, graduate and continuing education programmes. The undergraduate offer covers a wide range of fields, from business, computing science and engineering to the natural and health sciences, social sciences, humanities, education and contemporary arts. English is the language of instruction, and students can add co-op work terms, options in French and study abroad.
International high school students can apply directly to SFU or to a pathway programme run by Fraser International College (FIC), an on-campus partner institution, and may apply to both at the same time. Graduates of bachelor's, master's or doctoral programmes who meet the eligibility criteria may qualify for a post-graduation work permit of up to three years. SFU Residence and Housing has more than 2,300 residents from over 90 countries, living in towers, residence halls, studio apartments and townhouses.
