The Université de Hearst is a French-language university in northern Ontario, Canada, with three campuses in Hearst, Timmins and Kapuskasing; this listing refers to the Kapuskasing campus. According to the university, it was the first university institution in Ontario to offer programmes entirely in French, and it welcomed 331 students in autumn 2026.

Its distinctive feature is the block format (formule bloc): students take one course at a time, which the university presents as a less stressful pace of learning. Programmes include:

  • Bachelor's degree in business administration and management
  • Interdisciplinary human and social sciences
  • Bachelor's degree in psychology
  • Graduate diploma in psychotherapy (DÉSP)

Studies include experiential learning such as work placements, and students can spend a semester abroad. The university advertises automatic scholarships. International applicants apply online with identity documents, secondary school transcripts and diploma, a CV and a motivation letter, and pay non-refundable fees of CAD 200 (file evaluation) and CAD 150 (admission). After admission, a tuition deposit of CAD 2,000 is required to receive the Provincial Attestation Letter (PAL) for the study permit; applicants may instead use the pilot programme for students in francophone minority communities. Residences are available on the Hearst and Timmins campuses, with off-campus housing resources for all three campuses.
