The Université de Moncton is a university in the Canadian province of New Brunswick with three campuses, in Edmundston, Moncton and Shippagan. This listing covers the Shippagan campus, a small campus on the coast at 218 boulevard J.-D.-Gauthier, in a community the university describes as part of Acadian culture. The university as a whole offers close to 200 programmes, including master's degrees, doctorates and certificates.

In most other disciplines, students can take their first two years at Shippagan and then continue at the Moncton campus. The campus has gyms, a fitness room and a swimming pool, and on-campus residences plus off-campus rooming houses. For international students, the university was selected by Immigration, Refugees and Citizenship Canada (IRCC) for its pilot project for students in Francophone minority communities, which gives selected graduates access to permanent residence. According to the university, one in three students receives a scholarship.

For most other programmes of the university's close to 200, the first two years can be taken at Shippagan before moving to the Moncton campus.

Admission Requirements

International applicants choose a programme and a campus and apply online. A non-refundable application fee of CA$300 is charged, of which CA$230 is credited against university fees at the start of the first session. After applying, applicants upload their documents as PDFs; the list depends on the country of study (typically secondary-school transcripts and diploma, plus a birth certificate). Documents not in French or English need a certified French or English translation. Admitted students whose study permit is approved must then send legalised or certified copies by post or DHL.

When applying, students can choose to take part in the IRCC pilot project for Francophone minority communities (PPECFSM). Course registration opens in April for the fall session and in mid-November for the winter session. Contact for the Shippagan campus: [email protected].

Indicative undergraduate costs for international students, 2026-27 academic year (8 months), in Canadian dollars:

  • Tuition: CA$15,761
  • Related fees: CA$726 (CA$615 at the Shippagan campus)

  • Total: CA$17,839 (engineering CA$18,147; nursing CA$18,689)
  • Estimated living costs: CA$22,720, including housing CA$5,720 and food CA$7,500

Fees are payable in Canadian dollars. Rates for 2027-28 have not yet been set.

Housing

The Shippagan campus has three residences: Jean-Guy Rioux (two-bedroom apartments), Raymond-Chiasson (single studios and studios for two or three people) and 8e Rue (single and two-bedroom studios). For 2026-27 the cost per person for the 8-month year ranges from CA$2,848 to CA$5,380; heating, electricity, wireless Internet and parking are included. Off-campus rooming houses are also available. First-year students enrolling for the first time get priority, without a guarantee, if they apply by 28 February.
