Many programmes include a large share of fieldwork or work placements, and the university offers distance learning, summer schools and continuing education. A dedicated admission route exists for international students, covering the Quebec university system, admission requirements, costs and funding, and residence permits, and the university also welcomes exchange students. On the Rimouski campus, the UQAR residences offer furnished four-bedroom apartments and rooms for full-time students, and both campuses have sports centres.
