Wilfrid Laurier University (Laurier) is a public university in Ontario, Canada, with campuses in Waterloo, Brantford and Milton. It traces its roots to a Lutheran seminary opened in Waterloo in 1911. It offers more than 100 undergraduate programmes across eight faculties, in science, arts, business, music and the humanities, as well as graduate studies. This listing covers the Brantford campus, opened in 1999 in the city's downtown core, about an hour's drive from Toronto.

The Brantford campus has around 2,700 undergraduate and graduate students and more than 20 undergraduate programmes, with an average class size of 30. It is home to the faculties of Liberal Arts and Human and Social Sciences, with programmes such as:

Brantford campus programmes include Business Technology Management, Applied Health Science, Health Studies, Education, User Experience Design, Human Rights and Social Work. Across all campuses Laurier offers over 100 undergraduate programmes in areas such as:

  • Business, finance and economics (Lazaridis School of Business and Economics)
  • Computer science, math and data, life and environmental science

  • Social science, social work, policing and public safety
  • Health science and education

Options include a direct-entry Management Minor, a Medical Foundations Partnership Minor and a combined undergraduate and MBA application.

Admission Requirements

International undergraduate applicants check the programme's requirements, the requirements for their school curriculum and whether they need proof of English-language proficiency. They can apply to up to three programmes through the Ontario Universities' Application Centre (OUAC) and then complete a supplementary application and upload documents in the applicant portal. Deadlines:

  • 22 November 2026: winter (January) 2027 intake
  • 15 March 2027: spring (May) 2027 intake
  • 1 April 2027: fall (September) 2027 intake

Final official documents must be sent by the issuing institution. After accepting the offer and paying the tuition deposit, students apply for a study permit; Laurier issues the provincial attestation letter (PAL) where needed. Contact: [email protected].

Fees

First-year international undergraduate costs for the 2026-27 academic year (fall and winter terms, full-time), in Canadian dollars:

  • Arts, Human and Social Sciences, Liberal Arts, Music, Social Work: CA$36,624 tuition plus CA$2,778 to CA$3,082 student fees
  • Business Administration and Business Technology Management: CA$44,332 tuition plus CA$2,338 to CA$3,282 student fees
  • Computer Science and Data Science: CA$39,470 tuition
  • Brantford residence (apartment-style): CA$9,062 (double) or CA$9,707 (single); optional Convenience Plan CA$960 to CA$1,360

Under Laurier's international tuition guarantee, tuition for continuing students rises by no more than 5% per year of study.

Financial Aid

Two scholarships are reserved for international undergraduates:

  • Renewable entrance scholarship: automatic, based on the final high-school average, CA$5,000 to CA$6,000 per year and renewable in upper years (up to CA$24,000 in total for the President's Gold Scholarship, 95-100% average)
  • Inspiring Lives Scholarship: CA$500 to CA$5,000 for leadership and extracurricular involvement, separate application

Competitive scholarships, awards and bursaries of CA$250 to CA$5,000 are available every year, and the International Student Work Experience Program (ISWEP) offers a limited number of part-time jobs.

Housing

First-year undergraduates attending university for the first time are guaranteed a residence place, and Laurier-managed housing is available in all years of study. All Brantford residences are apartment-style with single or double rooms and a full kitchen; in 2026-27 they cost CA$9,062 (double) or CA$9,707 (single) for two terms, with an optional Convenience Plan. LOCUS is Laurier's off-campus housing programme.
