Ontario Tech University is a research university in Oshawa, Ontario (Canada), in the Durham Region of the Greater Toronto Area. It focuses on science, technology, engineering and mathematics (STEM), with particular strengths in artificial intelligence, energy and nuclear studies. It has more than 15,000 undergraduate and graduate students and 105 programmes, and, according to the university, Re$earch Infosource 2025 named it Canada's top undergraduate research university.
Programmes span undergraduate, college-to-university transfer, master's, doctoral and continuous learning studies, including online options. Distinctive programmes include:
- Nuclear Engineering, described as Canada's only undergraduate programme in the field
- Automotive and Mechatronics Engineering, with a railway engineering specialisation
- Forensic Science, accredited by the American Academy of Forensic Sciences, and Forensic Psychology
- Medical Laboratory Science and Marine Biology
More than 100 programmes offer direct-entry co-op, with over 500 industry partners. All in-person bachelor's programmes are eligible for the Canadian Post-Graduation Work Permit (PGWP). International students apply through the OUAC Undergraduate Application or directly to Ontario Tech (up to three programmes for a CAD 100 fee). The Global Leadership Award offers international secondary school applicants CAD 30,000 a year for four years.

Ontario Tech offers 105 undergraduate and graduate programmes with a STEM focus, organised in faculties of Business and Information Technology, Education, Engineering and Applied Science, Health Sciences, Science, and Social Science and Humanities. Examples:

International applicants (not Canadian citizens or permanent residents, studying outside Canada) apply either through the OUAC Undergraduate Application, choosing up to three programmes, or directly to Ontario Tech, up to three programmes for a CAD 100 fee. Admission is competitive and requirements vary by country and curriculum; credentials from outside Canada may need WES authentication. Key dates for Fall 2027:
- 11 February: deadline for the Global Leadership Award
- 31 March: deadline for complete international applications to OUAC (29 January for early application programmes)
- 3 May: deadline to accept an offer
- 1 June: residence applications for a guaranteed place
- 4 June: non-refundable tuition deposit
All applicants must prove English proficiency in one of three ways: English is their first language; they completed at least three years of full-time study at a secondary or post-secondary institution where teaching and exams are in English (ESL courses do not count); or they reach the required score on an English test accepted by the university.
The Global Leadership Award is worth more than CAD 120,000 (CAD 30,000 a year for four years) and recognises international applicants studying full-time at a secondary school outside Canada who have strong academic and leadership abilities; for Fall 2027 the application deadline is 11 February. The Student Awards and Financial Aid team advises on bursaries, on-campus employment and scholarships.
