Unthinkable only a few years ago, recent advances in communication technology mean that long-distance communication is now possible with ease. The use of these technologies therefore means that the bulk of training activities in a postgraduate course can be completed remotely with no requirement for direct physical contact.
Consequently, the main benefit of this Master in Dental Aesthetic course is that it gives access to high-level postgraduate training for people who are not able to relocate to another university, allowing students to maintain family and/or work-related bonds whilst affording them the opportunity to achieve the training objectives proposed by this course.
Although the nature of dentistry requires a minimum physical presence at the UIC, it can be individually scheduled for each student, thus reducing disruption to their family and/or working life.
This course requires a minimum commitment of two hours per day plus working time at weekends. Communication is performed by videoconference using the Webex system and teaching sessions are held daily.
