Bishop's University is a primarily undergraduate, English-language university founded in 1843 in Sherbrooke, Quebec. Its 550-acre campus lies in Lennoxville, in the Eastern Townships, about ten minutes from the centre of Sherbrooke. It is the only English-language university in Quebec outside Montreal and has about 2,800 full-time students from 74 countries; more than half come from Quebec.
Bishop's follows a liberal education model, with over 100 programmes in five faculties and schools. Students start with a major and can combine disciplines, add a minor or take a second concentration. Degrees offered include:
- Bachelor of Arts (BA) and Bachelor of Science (BSc)
- Bachelor of Business Administration (BBA) at the Williams School of Business
- Bachelor of Education (BEd)
- Certificates and micro-certificates
- Master of Arts, Master of Science and Master of Education, and a doctorate in clinical psychology
First- and second-year classes average 40 students. Bishop's admits students in January and September and receives international exchange students for one or two semesters. Residence is guaranteed for first-year students who apply on time, in seven buildings with traditional rooms, shared-bathroom rooms and suites.

International high school applicants normally need 12 years of schooling and a secondary credential giving access to university in their country; the minimum average depends on the curriculum. Business requires grade 11 mathematics, and BSc science programmes require university-entrance mathematics and two sciences. Applicants submit:
- Proof of English proficiency
- High school transcript, with mid-term grades if available
- Personal identification documents
- An audition and letter of musical background for music programmes
Deadlines for international students: 1 September 2026 (documents by 15 September 2026) for Winter 2027 entry, and 31 March 2027 (documents by 15 April 2027) for Fall 2027 entry, which is also the deadline for competitive entrance scholarships.
International tuition for the 2026-27 academic year (cohort 2026, Canadian dollars):
- Undergraduate, all disciplines: CA$983.68 per credit, CA$29,510.43 for 30 credits, CA$32,221.28 with compulsory fees
- Graduate programmes (course- or thesis-based): CA$711.62 per credit, CA$21,348.60 for 30 credits, CA$24,059.45 with compulsory fees
A typical full-time year is 30 credits from September to April. International students also pay a health insurance fee each semester (CA$443 in fall). Fees are the same for online and in-person courses.
Bishop's offers scholarships, awards and bursaries, and states that over 60% of its students receive financial assistance. For Fall 2027 entry, 31 March 2027 is the deadline to be considered for competitive entrance scholarships and to submit the entrance awards and bursaries application.
Residence is guaranteed for first-year students who apply on time. There are seven residence buildings with three room styles:
- Traditional rooms, single or shared with one person
- Bog-style rooms with a bathroom shared between two
- Suites for up to four people with a kitchen
All buildings have common areas, communal kitchens and study spaces. Unlimited meal plans are required in all residences except Paterson Hall. Residences are a five-minute walk from classes, and the university provides resources for off-campus housing.
